Windrush: The Legacy shares the stories of the Windrush generation who helped shape the Leicester we know today.
Through photographs, portraits, personal stories and first-hand recordings, the exhibition explores their journeys from the Caribbean, the lives they built in Leicester and the communities they helped create.
Visitors can step into a recreated Windrush front room, bringing together the sights, sounds and memories of a generation who made Leicester home.
The exhibition explores themes of migration, family, community, identity and belonging, giving audiences an opportunity to encounter the experiences of those who came to Leicester and contributed to its cultural life.
It offers space for different generations to discover, remember and share stories — connecting personal memories with Leicester’s wider history.
